Construction of the new building next to the Maastricht academic hospital has begun and funding has recently been approved.
The construction of the two towers alongside the existing buildings is made possible by the 'azMove' policy, in which the patient plays a central role. Effective patient care has led to the implementation of 'care lines' and care centres; in the new location, the hospital will become more accessible to the patient, care centres will be more recognisable and patient care more efficiently organised. The building and (re)accommodation plans will quickly turn this prospect into reality. With the construction of the towers, the hospital will gain 21,000 square metres of extra floor space. Currently, the outpatient clinics and associated departments take up 35,400 square metres of floor space.
The new building plan will cost €30 million.
