Foreign nationals are more satisfied with the services of the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) than two years ago. In 2009 they awarded the IND with the mark 7.3 for the services they received, as compared to a 6.8 in 2007. Educational institutions and businesses are also increasingly more satisfied. In 2009 they awarded the IND with a 6.9, as compared to a 6.2 two years before. This is evident from the Annual Results 2009 of the IND.
The Annual Results also show that 91% of the decisions the IND has to take within a statutory period did, in fact, take place within this period. In particular, requests for naturalisation were processed and completed within the statutory period more often. The percentage of timely processed files increased from 87% to 95%.
In addition to the improvement in the quality and services, and the timelier decision-taking, the IND prepared itself in 2009 for a number of major changes. The implementation of the Modern Migration Policy was begun, and preparations for the implementation of the improved asylum procedure were started.
The new information system INDiGO will also be implemented in 2010. Among other things, this system will further improve the services to foreign nationals, accelerate the work processes and facilitate improved enforcement. The first part of the system for foreign nationals, the Customer Service Information, had already been implemented in 2009. Through the online Customer Service Information System, which can be accessed via the homepage of this site, foreign nationals can obtain general information about staying in the Netherlands, and they can also find – in once place, from the Internet – all the specific information that is needed for filing their particular residence application.
