Maastricht School of Management: 94 new students from 25 different countries

01-02-2010 om 11:42 by Maastricht Region Branding Foundation

On Monday January 18th, 94 new students from 25 different countries started their Executive Programs at MSM. The Programs include: Project Identification, Development and Management (PDM) and Strategic Management (GSM) with a duration of three weeks, Project Management (PM) and Financial Management (FM) with a duration of three months.

The PDM program is centered around the five elements of the project cycle. Participants will learn how to manage complex capacity building projects effectively, to guarantee success every step of the way. For this course MSM has invited colleagues from NUFFIC and the University Maastricht to share their experiences with the students.

The GSM program will train the participants in designing the best strategy for their organization's particular aims, and it will show them how to make these strategies work. The program will furthermore update the participants on the latest developments in the field of strategy and sharpen their professional skills. The course includes skills and experiences with a real life case to be presented at the end of the course in small groups.

The PM program focuses on the theory and skills needed thoughout the entire project cycle: from project identification and planning to project implementation and project termination. Participants will learn how to effectively manage projects through each phase of the project cycle. Participants in the PM course will have to work as real project consultants in teams for a Housing Association in Maastricht.

The FM program will equip the participants with the tools and techniques they need for financial planning and control. It will also teach them to analyze their organization's financial environment and train them in how to apply corporate finance in a strategic context. The topic of 'Ethics in Financial Management' will be adressed in the context of current events in the financial world. Participants will also pay a visit to the Triodos Bank, this Bank won the Financial Times Sustainable Bank of the Year Award in 2009 for its leadership and innovation in integrating sustainability in all its activities.

The MSM training approach provides the participants with a combination of theoretical insights, combined with interactive skills workshops, and sharing experiences with experts from the field and fellow participants.
