From the beginning of September, the former Chief of Police, Will Meijers, has been responsible for contact with the business community throughout the whole of Limburg, after bearing the same responsibility, initially for North and Central Limburg. The regional platform for dealing with crime in the Maastricht Region, RPC, has consequently said goodbye, at his own request, to the former Police Chief Burg van Baarle, who held the position of Business Contact Officer for four years.

Will Meijers has had a range of positions in the police force. He started young in the Maastricht Region and North Brabant and has worked from being a detective to chief of police. Between 1993 and 2007 he was the person responsible for the police in various municipalities and as a result held consultations with mayors, counselors, members of the Justice Department and the triangular relationship between a number of state and private organizations.

Business people and their employees do not always understand how to deal with some forms of in-house crime. They are often worried about loss of image, about reprisals and their own positions, or unrest among staff. This lack of knowledge and unfamiliarity with the legal consequences often prevent the right measures from being taken. A police contact officer for the business community provides advice that has to do with a range of areas, including blackmail, threat, various types of fraud, theft, money laundering and environmental crime. In these discussions the police advisor acts as an independent party and these contacts are confidential.
