At the AVANTIS European Science and Business Park, you can now tank up on solar fuel at two filling stations. One is sponsored by the Aachen power utility - STAWAG. The other, the PowerPARK Solar Filling Station, has been purchased by AVANTIS and has a special form of construction. This is formed by solar panels on a carport roof The carports act as a shelter and charging point for electric vehicles. Each unit has a peak output of 150 kilowatts. When there is nothing plugged in to the PowerPark, the solar power is fed back into the grid, so the energy collected is never wasted. Both filling stations/ports are run by AVANTIS and have a daily output of around 3 kW/h. The PowerGLAZ roof construction of the PowerPARK Station was developed by Romag & Co., Ltd from England, and Hermans Techniek from Kaatsheuvel represents PowerGLAZ and PowerPARK BIPV modules for the Netherlands.
